Engineering Design
Arnoco Engineering Design
From the primitive drawings of early humans on cave walls to modern interior decoration, magazine layouts, software interfaces, vehicles, stationery, computers, production lines and factory layouts — all are the results of design. The vast scope of design has led specialists in different fields to develop their own interpretations, making it difficult to provide a single, clear and comprehensive definition. Furthermore, differences in language have added additional complexity to understanding the concept of design.
Engineering design can be categorized into several areas, including adaptive design, new design, logical design, experimental design, industrial design, product design, optimal design, system design, and tooling design. Generally, engineering design is an effective tool for solving many engineering challenges, and it may overlap with areas such as industrial design or tool design. However, this does not imply that all these fields are subsets of engineering design; rather, engineering design enables the use of engineering knowledge along with design principles to develop efficient and practical solutions across these domains.
Types of Engineering Design at Arnoco
Since design forms the foundation of all products in the world, engineering design is considered the essential and primary step in the development of new products. This type of design can be classified into the following categories:
Step One
In general, all concepts of engineering design can be summarized into four main stages. Today, design engineers use various software tools commonly referred to as CAD. These software solutions are selected based on their capabilities and the level of engineering theory applied throughout the design process.
Step Two
The second stage focuses on validating the initial designs and answering a fundamental question: “Will these designs deliver the expected performance in real-world conditions?”
At this stage, it is necessary to verify the designs without consuming significant financial resources. To achieve this, engineering principles and performance criteria are systematically applied to the initial concepts in a structured and repeatable manner.
Here, specialized software once again supports the engineering team, but with a deeper technical approach to resolve existing challenges. Through simulation and analytical modeling, these tools verify performance in a virtual environment and identify potential flaws for correction and optimization before the design proceeds to the manufacturing stage
Step Three
At Arvand Novin Sanat Darya, all phases including conceptual design, industrial design, and design data analysis are carried out within the company’s Engineering and Technical Department. This division, equipped with skilled and motivated engineers and utilizing up-to-date engineering software, plays a central role in fulfilling the company’s mission.
Key challenges for our engineering team include maintaining expertise in globally recognized software, continuous development of technical knowledge to improve and create new products, and effective collaboration with other departments to move the organization toward its strategic goals.
